Betty Boothroyd - In a newspaper article,
and in the book Betty Boothroyd, The Autobiography, the former
speaker of the UK Parliament explains a time when, at the age of
15/16, she was given the belt by her concerned father after
arriving home late from a dance. When she arrived home and
attempted to explain, Betty recalls: "Dad refused to listen
when I turned up. He laid into me with the belt on which he used
to hone his razor (Razor Strop). I still had my coat on and was
merely shaken. I understood dad`s anger. He had been through
hours of worry and could not control himself."

Fielder - In 1979 Bobbi Fielder, later to become an
American Congress-woman, led a campaign to have corporal
punishment restored in L.A. schools. Before casting her vote she
said she would receive a paddling so that she could experience
exactly what she was campaigning for, she was as good as her word

Dundy - The American writer was frequently caned on

Ken Tynan. Dundy reluctantly complied with the thrashings but
certainly didn`t enjoy them and they made her quite angry. After

- In 1942 the then Sergeant Mary Churchill and the daughter of
British PM Winston was reportedely taken over US private Bill
Adams` knee and received a sound hiding to her backside for
apparentley teasing him about the size of his feet.

Liar`s Club, she talks of spankings during her upbringing. She
mentions that her mother never really excelled as a spanker but

womens cricket team was quoted as saying: "Both my parents

- In her memoirs, My Father`s Daughter, legendary American singer
Frank Sinatra`s daughter said that her father was a half-hearted
disciplinarian and a soft touch, and would show dissaproval, but

Westwood - In the famous fashion designer`s
biography it was mentioned that when she was at primary school,
instead of queing for the toilet like several other girls were,
she decided to use the boys toilet instead and got a slap from
the teacher for it. And later when she attended Grammar School,
one of her classmates recalls how Vivienne was argumentative and
